Free and Confidential prenatal and postnatal services for expecting and new parents/caregivers with infants under one year of age.

What are they?

 

Good Start and Healthy Choices  are projects funded by the Public Health Agency of Canada and are sponsored by the High Prairie and District Children's Resource Council. These programs provide information, support and resources for new and expecting parents. Services are available throughout pregnancy, birth and until infant is 12 months of age.

Healthy Weights and Infant Development

​

Milk coupons: As you participate in group sessions and/or personal home/office consultations, you will receive milk coupons. 

​

Vitamins: Throughout your pregnancy the programs will supply you with prenatal vitamins as well as breastfed infants will receive vitamin drops until one year of age. 

​

Good Food Box: A monthly food hamper of nutritious food, sample recipes, an nutritional information. 

​

Workshops: Making Healthy Choices, Breastfeeding 101, Sugar Facts, Baby's First Foods, Baby Sign Language, Baby Massage, Infant First Aid, Gestational Diabetes, and more. 

​

Ages & Stages Questionnaire: Learn about how children grow and develop and how to enhance your own child's developmental potential through play and learn.

  • Home visitation services providing privacy and personalized programming.

  • Prenatal instruction and preparation offered in weekly groups (Off to a Good Start) and full day sessions. 

  • Postnatal education and support services offered in weekly and bi-weekly groups (Baby & Me) in High Prairie, East Prairie, Peavine and Grouard.

  • Nutrition, maternal health, breastfeeding support and infant development information and resources. 

  • Community supports, baby welcome bags and referrals to health professionals. 

  • Nutritional Supports: monthly good food box, prenatal and infant D vitamins and milk vouchers. 

  • Mental health and post partum prevention and support services. 

  • Healthy parent-child attachment services and support in building healthy relationships.
